LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Arkansas Forestry Commission crews suppressed four wildfires that burned 52 acres today. Over the weekend, AFC crews suppressed 31 wildfires – 16 on Saturday that burned 133 acres, and 15 Sunday that burned 126 acres.
County Judges have issued burn bans in the following counties: Ashley, Bradley, Carroll, Chicot, Cleveland, Columbia, Conway, Crawford, Drew, Faulkner, Franklin, Garland, Hempstead, Howard, Johnson, Lafayette, Lincoln, Logan, Madison, Miller, Nevada, Ouachita, Perry, Pike, Polk, Pope, Sebastian, Sevier, Union, Washington and Yell.
“We are asking all Arkansans to please use caution when burning yard debris or doing any type of outdoor burning,” said John Shannon, State Forester. “If you’re in an area under a burn ban, do not burn at all. Drought conditions have dried vegetation to the point where fires easily escape control and containing those fires is difficult.
