The Arkansas Department of Health is reminding parents of the danger that is present when young children are around swimming pools, lakes and streams.  According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), “Every day, about ten people die from unintentional drowning. Of these, two are children aged 14 or younger.

Kids can head over to the Pinecone Playhouse at Magic Springs to be on stage and sing some of their favorite songs. The music, microphone, costume and even backup dancing will be provided! Show are at 2:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. every day except Tuesdays from June 11-Aug. 14.

Calling all kids! Are you Hot Springs’ next big pop idol? Well if you are, then head over to the Pinecone Playhouse and get ready to belt it out! Our hosts are looking for a few star-studded kids to join them on stage as they sing some of your favorite songs on the radio. We’ll provide the music, a microphone, a costume and even some backup dancing! All you have to provide is the singing!

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. - e-day Festival 2011, is here – This Sunday! As of the largest environmental education events in Arkansas, will take place from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Sunday, June 5 at the Farmers Market Pavilion, 121 Orange Street in downtown Hot Springs.

This free family event hosts nearly one hundred environmentally conscious businesses, organizations, non-profits, and places of worship has it all: live music, food vendors, games, art, rock climbing wall, and a variety of intriguing exhibitors with eco-friendly products for purchase. The first 150 children will receive a free pumpkin growing kit from the Commission and The Master Gardeners. Live performances throughout the day include music from Chana and Randy Caylor, Shady Grove, and the Drum Circle.

HOT SPRINGS, AR--- Children will soon be out of school for the summer and many families are looking for ways to have fun in the sun together.  The Ouachita and Ozark-St. Francis National Forests are co-sponsoring several fishing derbies on Ranger Districts across Arkansas and Oklahoma.

“We work closely with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission and the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation to ensure all the derby sites are well-stocked with catfish or trout for the event,” stated Richard Standage, Ouachita National Forest Fisheries Biologist.

 “The derbies are free to the public. Each child must be registered before casting a line.  The registration consists of name, age, address, phone number, and the signature of a parent or guardian,” stated   Keith Whalen, Ozark-St. Francis National Forests Fisheries Biologist.
