HOT SPRINGS, Ark. (AP) - A 19-year-old communications major at the University of Arkansas has been crowned Miss Arkansas 2012.

Pageant spokeswoman Toni Bahn says Miss Heart of the Ozarks Sloane Roberts, of Rison, was named the winner Saturday night. Roberts won a $20,000 scholarship.

Roberts' platform was preventing child abduction and her talent was tap dancing. She also won the interview and swimsuit awards.

The event was held at the Summit Arena in Hot Springs.

Miss University of Central Arkansas Morgan Holt, 21, of Conway, was named the first runner-up, and Miss Greater Little Rock Bethany Whitfield, 23, of Bryant, was the second runner-up.

Hot Springs resident Rosalyn Taylor, Miss Ouachita River, was deemed third runner-up, and Miss Greater Jacksonville Maegan Inzer, 23, of White Hall, was named the fourth-runner up.
