'Back to the Future' pricing at Mid-America Science Museum

Hot Springs, AR: On December 10th, Mid-America Science Museum (MASM) is stepping back in time with extremely low pricing. General Admission for this one day event will be $2.75 + tax (all ages), the same price for Museum general admission in 1982.

“It’s the Museum’s way of saying thanks to the community.” Said Andy Marquart, Executive Director “We are fortunate to have so many people who support us and believe in what we do, and a discounted pricing like this is a way we can extend our gratitude.”

Recently the Museum was awarded a $7.8 Million capital grant from the Donald W. Reynolds Foundation to renovate the Museum’s building and exhibits. The renewed MASM will offer stronger connections between science and the Museum visitors' everyday lives.

Jackpots keep jumping at Oaklawn

HOT SPRINGS, AR (Monday, Nov. 28, 2011) – One day after a Jacksonville, AR woman won $81,640 playing a $.25 Wheel of Fortune machine, another woman became a $100,000 richer after winning the Grand Prize in Grillin’ and Chillin’ Tailgate Spectacular. The winner, Nancy Epstein of Hot Springs, was one of three people selected to play for the Grand Prize, a record for Oaklawn, after a series of drawings held throughout the evening.

Between 5 and 8 p.m. Sunday, 30 names were drawn from a prize barrel and those guests won between $100 and $500. At 8 p.m., three names were drawn from among the earlier 30 winners and those people had to choose four tailgate menu items from a group 12. The goal was to correctly match their four items to four items selected independently by SCA Promotions Inc. Epstein followed Wilbert Cox, who won $100 for matching one item and Kristi Bailey, who won $1,000 for matching two items.

Jacksonville woman wins $81K jackpot at Oaklawn

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. – Eleanor Mitchell, of Jacksonville, AR, has 81,000 reason to be thankful for this holiday weekend after hitting a jackpot worth $81,640 while playing the $.25 Wheel of Fortune machine Saturday morning. The jackpot, which was hit at 3:32 a.m., 30 minutes before the doors closed for the day, was the largest single payout at Oaklawn since the new gaming center opened in 2009.

“It was surreal,” said Mitchell, who is a regular player at Oaklawn. “All of a sudden the machine started going ‘Pow, Pow, Pow’ and the numbers started rolling. It was a great feeling. My grandchildren and great-grandchildren are going to have a very nice Christmas and I’m going to get myself a Chrysler C-300. I’ve wanted one for a long time.”

Oaklawn’s previous record for a single jackpot was $26,695 hit in Feb. 2010. In June 2011, nine people shared in the record $99,103 Bad Beat Jackpot hit in the Poker Room.
